Aberdeen Staircase – Aberdeen

Our client required a feature stair in a very narrow stairwell. In order to fit the stair in we had to have the lower handrail cutting through the upper flight with the upper and lower handrails in plane. This created a single wall of glazing up the middle of the stair, cut through by an applied oak handrail. Often a constraint like this can provide the most interesting detail on a staircase. We also wanted to ensure that the staircase landed lightly in the space, so it is hung from the bridle on brushed stainless steel straps.
