What We Do

Angus and Mack is a small, independent timber manufacturing business based on the outskirts of Edinburgh. We specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of stunning contemporary staircases and bespoke fitted cabinets.

Locally sourced timber

Wherever possible, we use locally sourced timber to manufacture our products. At Angus and Mack, we aim to help the local job market, support our local community and reduce our carbon footprint.

When we use locally sourced timber, we help to enhance Scotland’s woods and forests. This, in turn, benefits people, wildlife, flood management and water supply. Angus and Mack are committed to building a more sustainable and eco-friendly business.

Innovative construction for the 21st Century

Angus and Mack will provide you with innovative ways to solve your home design and construction problems, leaving with striking results. Our contemporary designs are complemented by the use of locally-sourced wood to produce a beautiful flow of contemporary style and nature.

Through working with a number of designers, architects, builders and private clients, we use our sound working knowledge of construction to offer you a comprehensive design and manufacture service.

At Angus and Mack, our contemporary staircases and bespoke wooden cabinets are characterised by extreme attention to detail and a consistent use of carefully selected materials.

Our Work

At Angus & Mack, we’ve designed, manufactured and installed a number of beautiful projects, including bespoke fitted cabinets, gorgeous timber bookcases and dramatic contemporary staircases to complement a modern lifestyle.

Our work is completed using locally sourced timber, allowing us to support Scotland’s woodland and forests, alongside the local community. This means you don’t have to compromise between a beautiful product and a sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyle.

Our unrivalled attention to detail is present in every project we complete, leaving our clients extremely happy and satisfied with our work. Our contemporary wooden staircases contrast perfectly with period homes, offering a light and modern flow through your home. They’re also just as in place in contemporary buildings, helping you to create a clean, natural and light environment throughout the property.

Commercial and domestic timber designs

As well as working with private clients, at Angus & Mack, we regularly work with schools, libraries and other commercial clients to help them design and install high quality timber products that’ll last throughout the years.

Our expert team will work with you to determine your requirements, designing and manufacturing a solution to meet your needs. When you commission us to build your staircase, cabinet or bookshelves, you can rest assured that you’ll receive an unbeaten level of workmanship.

Brilliant customer service

Everyone at Angus & Mack is thoroughly committed to providing sustainable and eco-friendly timber solutions to Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. To ensure you receive the project of your dreams, we’ll keep you involved every step of the way, from design to installation.

We’re passionate about creating environmentally friendly products that support Scotland’s timber industry and the local community in order to give back. From your initial consultation to the completed product, we’ll be here to answer any query you have.

The Design Process

The design and commissioning process is dependent upon the job, however, it generally follows these stages:

1. Initial discussion

2. Site visit/workshop visit

3. Presentation of sketches, CAD drawings and / or models

4. Costing the work

5. Payment of deposit

6. Manufacture of items

7. Delivery and fitting

8. Final payment

We would normally ask for a 50% deposit of the total cost of the job before work can begin with the remaining balance due upon completion. For larger jobs such as renovation works we might ask for staged payments as the work progresses with the final balance due upon completion.

Who We Are

Malcolm Mack

Malcolm has been making things since he was a bairn. He studied design at Edinburgh College of Art achieving a Masters degree in 2004. He enjoys the challenges of running a small specialist manufacturing business in Scotland and working for clients that are passionate about the built environment.

He is a board member of ASHS and is keen to promote the use of sustainably sourced hardwoods and help develop manufacturing in Scotland.

Charlie Elms

Cabinet Maker

Charlie joined the business in 2011 on a young apprenticeship scheme which he completed in 2015. Charlie has a keen eye for timber selection and loves working with high quality hardwoods.

His solid work ethic and attention to detail is excellent, something that we find can't be taught and is a highly valued member of the team.

Hamish Renny

Cabinet Maker

Hamish joined the team in 2015 having trained at the Chippendale school of furniture and has proven to be an excellent maker both in the workshop and on site.

Hamish takes care of our website and social media platforms and is helping develop a new website for a series of products we are working on.

Our newest member who arrived in 2016. Weeke is German but only speaks binary.

He's almost as reliable as Charlie but his crack is terrible.

Natalie started working with us as a part time admin assistant in 2013 and has been instrumental in organising and ordering our growing pile of paperwork.
