What We Do

Angus and Mack are a small timber manufacturing business based on the outskirts of Edinburgh specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of stunning contemporary staircases and bespoke fitted cabinetry wherever possible using their own locally sourced hardwoods.

We are innovative problem solvers with a sound working knowledge of construction and work closely with architects, designers, builders and private clients, offering a comprehensive design and manufacture service. Our work is characterised by close attention to detail and efficient use of carefully selected materials.

Our Work

Who We Are

Julian Angus

Julian has a background in Rural Resource Management. After a few years organic farming he embarked on a career in carpentry. He has a keen interest in environmental issues and a love for simple Scandinavian design.

Malcolm Mack

Co- Founder

Malcolm studied 3D design at Edinburgh college of Art and has been involved in building and making from an early age. He thoroughly enjoys the problem solving aspect of design and the satisfaction of a job well done.

Charlie joined the business in 2011 on a young apprenticeship scheme. He has excellent attention to detail, something that we find can't be taught, and is progressing well with his practical abilities.

Natalie started working with us as a part time admin assistant in 2013 and has been instrumental in organising and ordering our growing pile of paperwork.

Bea is the third founding member of Angus & Mack. She has chosen to stay a silent partner in the business except of course when there are visitors to the workshop or squirrels in the vicinity.

The Design Process

The design and commissioning process is dependent upon the job, however, it generally follows these stages:

1. Initial discussion

2. Site visit/workshop visit

3. Presentation of sketches, CAD drawings and / or models

4. Costing the work

5. Payment of deposit

6. Manufacture of items

7. Delivery and fitting

8. Final payment

We would normally ask for a 50% deposit of the total cost of the job before work can begin with the remaining balance due upon completion. For larger jobs such as renovation works we might ask for staged payments as the work progresses with the final balance due upon completion.
